Position Title: Amphitheatre Deck Audio
Department: Audio
Position Summary
The deck audio position is responsible for the continuity and operation of the audio rig during
performances. They may also assist with work calls and troubleshoot various issues associated
with theatrical productions.
Responsibilities
● Open, shut down, and service the orchestra pit systems
● Assisting with orchestra pit input checks with the audio engineer
● Assist with stage monitor output checks
● Mix a simple-use system for the community pre-show stage
● Complete microphone handoffs and catches from actors during run of show
● Communicate directly and effectively with second audio engineer during run of show
● Respond appropriately and efficiently to microphone and audio system repair requests
and instructions during shows and work calls
● Work with performers and staff in a positive and professional manner at all times
● Maintain flexible schedule for work calls and emergency rehearsals
● Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and
maintain a safe work environment
● Contribute to the overall success of the Production Department by performing any
additional duties and responsibilities assigned
Required Qualifications
● Ability to work outside in a hot dry desert climate, required
● Ability to collaborate with the audio team to run backstage tracks
● Works well in a fast paced and high pressure environment
● Must be able to run short distances and use stairs
● Must be able to stand for the length of a show
● Ability to lift 50 lbs
● Basic soldering and cable repair skills
Bonus Qualifications
● 2-3 years of professional work experience in a live theatrical environment as an audio
technician or equivalent educational experience
● Skilled knowledge of radio frequencies and Clear-Com Systems
Other Details:
2024 Season shows include Frozen, Anastasia, Ring of Fire, and Jersey Boys.
This contract is represented by IATSE Local 720
Contract Dates: 8/01/24 - 10/20/2024
Salary/Rate: $19.50 per hour
Housing and travel stipends are negotiable.
