Public Relations Manager About City of Hope, City of Hope's mission is to make hope a reality for all touched by cancer and diabetes. City of Hope's growing national system includes its Los Angeles campus, a network of clinical care locations across Southern California, a new cancer center in Orange County, California, and cancer treatment centers and outpatient facilities in the Atlanta, Chicago and Phoenix areas. The successful candidate: Location: Hybrid position* Type: Full-time (40 hours per week) * This position requires occasional onsite work. Responsibilities: * Develop communication strategies and manage execution, including materials development, media outreach, and managing internal project teams. * Manage outside writers in developing draft news releases, by-lined articles, and blog posts. * Lead regular media relations training sessions for high-profile doctors, researchers, and executive leaders. * Develop proactive media relations strategies, cultivate key media relationships, and secure positive press coverage to raise the national and local profile of City of Hope. * Plan, create, and secure approval for a range of written content for online and print publications. * Achieve consensus on messaging by consulting with clinical experts, City of Hope leaders, and members of the Office of Philanthropy. * Craft media materials such as news releases, videos, background information, key messages, media advisories, Q&As, and other tools for marketing new opportunities to the media and the public. Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field (experience may substitute for minimum education requirements). * Five years of relevant experience in marketing and communications, including 1-2 years in a managerial capacity, with at least one year in healthcare marketing communications.
