Job Summary:
The Well-being and Recreation department is seeking a dynamic and creative Social Media Specialist to join our team. As a student member of our department, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our online presence and engaging our student and campus community through various social media platforms. This position offers a fantastic opportunity for students interested in pursuing a career in communications, digital marketing, or social media management. The Social Media Specialist will also work closely with internal and external stakeholders, attend meetings to discuss communication efforts with the rest of the department, and provide social media support for campaigns and collaborations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Content Creation:
* Create compelling and visually appealing content for the department's social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other relevant platforms.
* Develop multimedia content, including graphics, images, videos, and written posts that align with the department's goals and messaging.
2. Social Media Management:
* Manage and maintain the department's social media accounts, ensuring consistent and timely updates.
* Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions, fostering positive interactions and engagement with the online community.
* Schedule and post content according to a content calendar, optimizing timing for maximum reach and engagement.
3. Strategy and Planning:
* Collaborate with the Well-being and Recreation team to develop a social media strategy that aligns with departmental goals and objectives.
* Identify trends and best practices in social media and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
* Assist in the development of campaigns and promotions to increase awareness and participation in department programs and events.
4. Analytics and Reporting:
* Monitor and analyze social media metrics, track the performance of posts, and prepare regular reports on engagement, reach, and
audience growth.
* Use data insights to make data-driven decisions and adjustments to the social media strategy.
5. Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:
* Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate and support social media efforts that promote well-being and
recreational activities.
* Attend departmental meetings to discuss communication strategies and ensure alignment with departmental goals.
6. Community Building:
* Actively engage with the university community, fostering connections and building relationships with students, staff, and faculty.
* Participate in online discussions, forums, and groups to promote the department and its initiatives.
Student Affairs & Inclusion: Actively contributes as a student staff member of the Department and Division that upholds the framework of equity and social justice. Performs job duties in a manner that appreciates diversity and fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members of the OHIO community. Actively participates in professional development opportunities when available and maintains current knowledge of emerging trends, best practices and related issues regarding all relevant areas of responsibility.
Minimum Qualifications
* Currently enrolled as a student at Ohio University
* Strong passion for social media, digital marketing, and communications.
* Excellent writing and communication skills.
* Proficiency in creating and editing multimedia content using tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar software.
* Familiarity with various social media platforms and trends.
* Basic knowledge of social media analytics tools and data analysis.
* Creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to think outside the box.
* Strong interpersonal skills and a team player mentality.
Preferred Qualifications Department CR Business Operations Pay Rate
$12.70/hour
