About The Opportunity
The Digital Press Operator is responsible for setting up and operating a digital flatbed printing press according to written and/or verbal instructions, established company procedures, safety and quality guidelines.
Essential Functions:
* Demonstrate commitment to safety and perform job duties in accordance with company safety policies and procedures
* Demonstrate commitment to quality and perform job duties in adherence to GMP guidelines
* Be aware of responsibilities and accountability as clearly defined for key staff involved with product safety, legality, and quality systems
* Understand job ticket information to determine quantity, special work instructions, and any other special customer requirements
* Determine the best manufacturing method to produce product efficiently and effectively
* Verify job specifications such as size, color and type of paper and color of ink from job order
* Obtain substrate and related supplies needed to produce job
* Set up press according to established company guidelines, safety and job requirements
* Print proof sheets to check press setup
* Adjust and/or correct color when needed using press setup, Photoshop, Illustrator, or Press Touch to achieve company and customer satisfaction
* Print job maintaining optimum production rate, color density, registration, and quality standard within company and customer guidelines, and make press adjustments as required
* Maintain high efficiency according to established rates during operation of the assigned equipment Select and maintain a file of approved press sheets of all jobs for future reference
* Troubleshoot and make decisions regarding the quality of finished product
* Complete required quality inspections and paperwork
* Work with peers and other departments to improve quality and performance
* Play an active role in the maintenance and cleanliness of the assigned press and surrounding area Understand department communication systems, schedules, time/attendance system and job reporting requirements
* Actively participate in lean manufacturing initiatives
* Perform other duties as assigned by management/supervisors
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Safety sensitive position - ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner
* Ability to work overtime and weekends as required based upon the needs of the business
* Ability to work on a rotating shift as needed
* Ability to effectively work in teams
* Ability to work in a production-based environment with moving equipment and people
* Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of roles
* Mechanical aptitude
* Good eye for color
* Understand and perform basic math
* Ability to perform all computer functions as they pertain to the job
* Prepress knowledge helpful
Education:
* High school diploma or equivalent
Shift:
* Rotating 1 and 2nd.
