Position Overview This position is a 12-month, full-time non-tenure-track faculty position with an appointment in Manchester University's Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. This individual is responsible for assisting the Program Director and faculty in developing the program, including didactic education coursework, program assessment plans, and other program projects as required. This individual is committed to assisting the program achieve its mission to educate innovative physical therapists who optimize human movement and function across the lifespan, empowering individuals and communities through evidence-based practice, leadership, advocacy, and a commitment to social responsibility. Individuals will maintain professional effectiveness, which includes but is not limited to the high quality of intellectual integrity, professional currency, and cooperation in all phases of the academic program. The program is seeking candidates with expertise in the following areas: Neurological, Acute-Care/Cardiopulmonary/Complex Patient Care, and Orthopedics/General Practice. Essential Job Functions Teaching 60% (approximately 18-load hours) * Contribute to the design, implementation, and evaluation of individual didactic and courses, as assigned. * Provide quality instruction in didactic and/or clinical courses inside and outside the classroom. * Execute roles of 'course coordinator' and 'lead instructor' as assigned. * Utilize student assessments to improve teaching, coursework, and curriculum. * Identify and develop creative, challenging, and evidence-based learning opportunities for students. * Demonstrate expertise in student assessment and evaluation. * Collaborate with other members of the faculty to develop/refine the curriculum, teaching, and evaluation methods needed for effective delivery of the curriculum, including creating, developing, and evaluating innovative teaching methods that prepare students for contemporary practice. * Be an exemplary professional role model for DPT and other Manchester students and faculty colleagues. * Assess student learning in all classes and implement changes to demonstrate continuous improvement. * Meet assigned classes, beginning and ending class sessions as scheduled. * Maintain compliance with the academic calendar, and with policies and procedures in the Faculty Manual. Scholarship (15%) * Lead and participate in the scholarship of discovery, application, integration, and teaching appropriate for the faculty's discipline and interests. * Disseminate the results of scholarly endeavors in appropriate forums, including publications, presentations, and teaching. * Continuously advance contemporary academic knowledge and clinical skills for content area expertise and professional growth * As appropriate, mentor and collaborate with other scholars both inside and outside the institution. Service (25%) Institutional and Professional (15%) * Participate in faculty governance, including attending meetings-full faculty, college, department, and committee-and fulfilling attendant responsibilities. * Serve as a faculty mentor to students and peer mentor to colleagues, as assigned. * If applicable, serve as a faculty advisor to student organizations. * Develop a culture of student success throughout the program, culminating confidence in graduates as they prepare to take the National Physical Therapy Examination. * Contribute meaningfully to program, department, and academic unit developmental and planning activities such as retreats and workshops. * Contribute to a collaborative departmental culture that fosters teamwork and support. * Participate in local, state, and national professional organizations and professional development activities. * Represent the program and institution in the community and/or professional activities in the region. * Participate in community service activities as appropriate for the faculty's area of practice, or as determined by the academic unit or University. * Serve as an academic advisor as assigned by the program director. Clinical (10%) * Engage in clinical practice to maintain clinical competency and licensure and/or certification requirements. * Maintain professional competence effectiveness through direct patient care. Secondary Job Functions Other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications * Credentials that support appointments at the rank of assistant professor. * Minimum of an earned Doctor of Physical Therapy degree with a preferred PhD or equivalent and three years of full-time post-licensure physical therapy clinical practice experience. * Experience as a core faculty member in a CAPTE-accredited entry-level physical therapist education program, preferred. * Terminal degree (e.g., DSc, PhD, EdD) or DPT * Physical Therapist (with an active Indiana license or eligibility for licensure as a physical therapist in Indiana). * Understanding of current physical therapy education and practice, including experience as a physical therapist. * A commitment to interdisciplinary education in health sciences. * Evidence of an active research and scholarly agenda, preferred. * Strong communication skills. * Adept at networking with healthcare leadership on a local, regional, and state level. * Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with students, faculty, staff, and administrators. * Effective presentation skills. * Ability to deliver course content and to assist students in understanding course content. * Ability to provide effective feedback and coaching. * Ability to adapt to changing teaching and learning environments and content-delivery methods. * Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues. * Ability to prioritize responsibilities, meet deadlines, and manage time. * Proficiency in spoken and written English. * Basic computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail, and internet use. * Commitment to continuous self-improvement and professional development. Work Schedule This is a full-time, exempt position with hours that may include some evenings and weekends.
