Freelance Tour Director - United States Do you enjoy meeting new people and exploring new places? Do you thrive in ever-changing environments and excel under pressure? We are currently looking for freelance Tour Directors to work with: * EF Explore America (https://www.efexploreamerica.com/): Provides educational group travel to the United States and Canada for predominantly Middle and High School students from the United States, Canada, and all over the world. The Role: As a Tour Director with EF Explore America, you will lead tours ranging from 3 to 10 days in length (with an average duration of 5 days). Every EF Explore America Tour Director must have a love for travel as well as a passion for learning and sharing their experience and knowledge with students and educators. No two days are ever the same, and there is never a dull moment on tour. Reporting to the North American Headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts, you would lead North American student groups on tours all over the U.S., mainly to major cities and popular destinations along the Eastern Seaboard. Please note that as this is a seasonal position with tours running from March to June, your first tour may not be until the summer months. Your responsibilities would include, but are not limited to: * Managing Tour logistics, * Destination research and navigation, * Creating and delivering educational commentary, * Connecting and coordinating with travelers, * Liaising with suppliers and vendors (Hotels, Restaurants, Guides etc.), * Collaborating with Explore America office staff, * Facilitating the inclusion of all persons on your tour, * Ensuring the safety of all your travelers, * Managing tour finances, * Reviewing confirmed itineraries, * Reconfirming reservations, * Leading fun, educational and experiential activities, * Representing EF Explore America on Tour, What we're looking for: * Fluent written and spoken English, * Based within the U.S., * Available to lead tours over the first 2 weeks of June, * Organizational skills & attention to detail, * A passion for travel & education, * Excellent communication & storytelling skills * Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, * Resilience & a 'nothing is impossible' attitude, * Ability to remain calm under pressure, * Strong sense of self-direction, initiative, and is a self-starter, * Flexibility to adapt to everchanging situations, * Enthusiastic & positive, * Comfortable with technology & using a smart-phone and apps, Good to Have: * Prior experience working in freelance roles, * Experience working with middle/high school-aged students, * Knowledge, and experience traveling to our main destinations (Boston, New York City, Washington, D.C.) * Experience leading groups as a Tour Director, Tour Guide, or as a Group Leader. * Ability to attend professional development opportunities hosted by EF Explore America Please Note: EF is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable people.
