Job Description
POSITION: Instructional Coach
IMMEDIATE
SUPERVISOR: Principal
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
EMPLOYMENT
TERM: Up to 18 hours
SALARY: Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-2, in accordance with Hampshire County Teacher Salary Schedule,
commensurate with experience and education level plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the building principal/immediate supervisor and
in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310, and HCBOE Evaluation Policy
JOB SUMMARY: Provide appropriate instruction to students and insure that the students meet the learning objectives and standards for the appropriate grade level/subject area
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Responsible for planning and implementing WV academic standards, content, and objectives
* Responsible for implementing adopted and supplemental academic programs
* Responsible for implementing technology skills
* Responsible for planning and implementing inclusion with special education students
* Responsible for student achievement with teachers
* Responsible for planning and implementing co-teaching as appropriate
* Analyze data and plan academic support
* Collaborate with other professional staff to enhance instruction
* Responsible for planning and implementing designated co-curricular activities and/or programs at the school such as curricular fairs, awards programs, and field trips
* Responsible for administering formative assessments
* Offer support for personalized learning
* Communicate with students, parents, and peers in an efficient manner
* Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning
* Address and implement students' IEPs and 504 Plans and recommends revisions when needed
* Meet professional responsibilities
* Maintain professional work habits and adhere to the Teacher Code of Conduct
* Implement any other programs designated by principal for school improvement
* Includes supervisory and/or other duties as assigned by Principal
* Read journals/research reports and be able to articulate research supported practices in education
* Participate in professional development at local, state, and national level
* Facilitate the implementation of the adopted curriculum in the following ways:
* Provide on-going professional development based on the needs of the school through data analysis and teacher's identified areas of need
* Observe and collaborate with teachers to plan lessons using scientifically-based, researched instructional strategies
* Model best teaching methods and strategies based on the latest research and data in all disciplines
* Help teachers incorporate technology into instruction; coordinate with the Technology Integration Specialists
* Conduct professional development and/or work with teachers to understand the WV Next Generation Standards and classroom assessment for learning to improve instruction
* Assist with implementation of writing, vocabulary, comprehension, inquiry-based math, critical thinking, and accelerated learning strategies across curriculum areas
* Provide resources beyond the textbook to use in lesson planning an instruction
* Lead professional learning communities to review student work and change instructional practice accordingly
* Prepare a "menu of services" to support teachers
* Prepare a schedule to meet at least monthly with principals and teachers at each school
* Prepare a weekly work schedule and submit to each principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specializations and grade levels, pursuant to WV Code §18A-3-2; Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate; Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff members.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Most commonly, the educational setting is indoors with outdoor settings for recess and field trip activities. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate (20-60dB). Exceptions include gymnasiums as well as vocational/technical laboratories where the noise levels may be moderate to loud (60-90 dB).
