Under the direction of Healthcare Pathway leadership, this instructional position involves teaching dietetic lectures and laboratory (clinical) courses in the Dietetic Technician Associate degree program. The instructor will plan, schedule, supervise, and evaluate student performance during extended laboratory (clinical) experiences. Related duties include participation in division and department activities and other duties as assigned. Assignments may include evenings and/or weekends.
* Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
* Manage the classroom/laboratory.
* Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
* Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
* Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
* Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
* Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
* Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
* Support student organizations and activities.
* Develop relationships with business and industry.
* Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
* Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements:
Must have Master's degree in Dietetics, Education, Public Health or Business Administration.
Occupational Experience:
Must have a minimum of two years full-time or equivalent (4000 hours) work experience as a credentialed practitioner in nutrition and or/food service. In addition, one of the following must be met:
* At least two years must have occurred within the last five years OR
* Two (2) years teaching Nutrition course work at the post-secondary level within the last five years.
{One (1) year of teaching experience equivalent two (2) semesters full-time or four (4) semesters part-time - per State of Wisconsin Legislature Administrative Code TCS3 3.04}
Industry or vendor certification:
Must meet ALL of the following:
* Proof of Registered Dietitian by the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR)
* Proof of active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Licensure: Must be a Certified Licensed Dietitian in the State of Wisconsin.
Successful candidate cannot direct another ACEND accredited nutrition and dietetics technician program.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

SUPPORTIVE TECHNOLOGY:
Experience with or willingness to learn the following supportive technologies:
1. Online Information Management Systems - Experience with INFOnline or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters
2. Blackboard - Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course - management systems
3. Technology-based Instruction - Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology
4. Emerging Technologies - Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications)
5. (Optional) Distance Learning Instruction - Experience with on-line, two-way video, ITV, and other methods of distance learning instruction.
Start Date:
This position supports the Healthcare Pathway and is available to start in the Spring 2025 semester.
Hours:
Up to 32 hours weekly, in-person, primarily based out of the West Allis Campus. Work is conducted during scheduled course hours, Monday - Friday. Hours vary based on departmental needs. Employees will conduct all work hours in the State of Wisconsin, performing work outside the state is strictly prohibited.
Salary:
Beginning in the fall of 2024 the starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable unless market conditions dictate otherwise.
