Summary This position serves as the Deputy Chief Information Officer and is located in the Office of the Chief Information Officer, Peace Corps Washington DC. The incumbent reports directly to the Chief Info Officer, who is responsible for executive direction and effective management and operations of Peace Corps' Information Technology affecting Headquarters and Overseas communication systems. Senior Executives Veterans Videos Help Duties The Deputy Chief Information Officer performs the following major duties: * Exercises technical and administrative direction and control over the IT operations. Assumes direct supervisory responsibility for strategic and critical projects as designated by the CIO. * Generates ideas and approaches to deliver automated information systems and service needs and improvements, including coordination of fact-finding, and analysis and design activities necessary for adequate assessment of possible technological alternatives. * Plans and manages actions necessary to acquire, supply, store and maintain automation, and communications systems throughout the agency, including both long-range and short-range solutions. * Ensures compliance with Federal polices and regulations which cover the procurement and use of computer and telecommunications equipment by the Agency. * Represents the Peace Corps in Government-wide projects, interagency committees, and task groups, and other external activities. Leads Inter-governmental IT projects or other high interest, mission-critical projects. * Reviews and interprets IT-related legislation and evaluate guidelines and/or directives issued by Federal regulatory agencies involving the purpose, assessment, and potential impact of changes and requirement on Peace Corps' IT systems and programs. * Maintains technical accuracy and documentation in the areas of IT infrastructure management, IT program/project management, application systems development and deployment, telecommunications systems, and IT Security. * Provides assistance and/or leadership and consultation as required by the CIO and/or Director on special projects and serves as Acting CIO as assigned. Also, serves as key leader and mentor to the CIO senior management staff. * Advises the CIO on the development and maintenance of IT policy and procedures. * Responsible for assisting in budget development, acquisition planning, and budget execution. This vacancy is being announced at one (1) grade level: To be minimally qualified for this position at the FE-00 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression, FP-01 or GS-15 grade level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
