Job Story
Are you proficient in working with spreadsheet data and data automation? Are you patient enough to manually clean, edit, and update spreadsheets if automation is not available? If yes, University Libraries Institutional Repository and Digitization team has an exciting opportunity for a graduate student to assist in the migration of SOAR: Shocker Open Access Repository to a new software platform.
Responsibilities:
* Assist in data migration from SOAR to a new repository platform.
* Work with bibliographic data, including editing and cleaning metadata in
spreadsheets.
* Utilize data automation tools, where available, to streamline processes.
* Manually update and edit large datasets if automation is not feasible.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.
Additional Requirements
* Current enrollment in a graduate program at the university.
* Proficiency in working with spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets).
* Attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets.
* Ability to troubleshoot and resolve data inconsistencies.
* Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications
* Familiarity with bibliographic data or metadata management.

Start Date:
Available immediately. The position will be hired as a Student Assistant with the possibility to sign a Graduate Assistantship agreement at the beginning of the Spring Semester.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
