Logan Simpson is an award-winning, multidisciplinary consulting firm that specializes in environmental consulting, cultural resource management, community planning, and landscape architecture design services. Logan Simpson has an immediate opening for a regular full-time Archaeological Field Director to be based out of our Flagstaff, Arizona office. Responsibilities Include : Managing fieldwork on cultural resources surveys and excavation projects throughout Arizona and adjacent states and taking the lead on preparing technical survey and excavation reports. Accurately and efficiently record cultural resources in the field, manage a field crew, operate GPS units with a data recorder, prepare site records, and conduct quality control/quality assurance reviews of all digital and paper field data. Proficiently and independently prepare complex technical reports for a full range of cultural resources projects. Position Requires: Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or closely related field. 5 years of cultural resources management (CRM) experience and demonstrable expertise supervising all aspects of cultural resources survey, excavation, and monitoring fieldwork and with preparing the associated technical reports. Proficiency with technical writing and use of Microsoft Office products. Demonstrable written and verbal communication skills. Sufficient field experience to be listed as a Project Director on an Arizona State Museum blanket permit. Knowledgeable about Section 106 review process and other federal historic preservation and cultural resources regulations. Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures and in remote locations (camping is a possibility). Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day over steep terrain for extended periods of time. Willingness to work overnight and on weekends. Must be able to work cooperatively with crew members and supervisors. An identified area of analytical expertise and/or an archaeological research interest. Self-motivated; be able to work independently and manage their own project workload; and work well in a team-oriented setting. Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Anthropology or closely related field. Be able to obtain current permits at Field Director level with the BLM, National Forest, and other agency lands in Arizona and, ideally, in one or more adjacent states (NM, UT, NV, CO, and CA). Knowledgeable of federal, state, and local historic preservation and cultural resources regulations and demonstrate an established area of analytical expertise and/or archaeological research interest. Experience working with Native American Tribal agencies and personnel. Compensation: This is a full-time position paid on a salaried basis between $58,240 to $74,880 annually, depending on experience and education.
