Position Information Job Title Chairperson Department Biomedical Health Sciences - 37400 Pay Grade 1 Job Category Faculty Job Summary The ETSU College of Public Health is a frequent partner with the community, local and state government and international organizations focused on providing public health training in areas of high need. An energetic and visionary leader is desired to continue with considerable success in this arena, filling the vacancy of Chair for the Department of Biomedical Health Sciences. The Department Chair will be expected to contribute to the development and growth of the academic and research programs within the department and college. Applicants must also be interested in the broader implications of their research as it relates to policies and practices that impact human health. This position is responsible to the Dean of the College for providing leadership and department administration; participating as a full member of the faculty, with all relevant duties, responsibilities and benefits; providing service and support to varied constituencies (college, university, outside communities, associations); and enhancing professional and personal development. The Department Chair initiates broad programs in consultation with department faculty and the college dean, in accordance with the University's Mission, ETSU, and Tennessee Higher Education Commission policies and University, College, and Department goals and objectives. Required Qualifications * Terminal degree (PhD, DSc, DrPH) in anatomy, physiology, microbiology, human health, or in a related field with extensive relevant experience. * Possess a history consistent with appointment as an associate or full professor in the department. * Significant experience with conducting and developing extramurally funded research is required. Preferred Qualifications * National recognition as a leader in anatomy, physiology, microbiology or a related aspect of human health.
