Close All Job Summary The University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for an Assistant Athletic Trainer for Cross Country, Track and Field. This position provides for the care, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses. Work includes administering injury prevention measures for athletes; serving as first responder to injury situations; maintaining injury records; reporting on rehabilitation progress to coaches; and planning return-to-play for injured athletes in collaboration with team physicians and physical therapists. The Assistant Athletic Trainer supports the direction of the Sports Medicine Program by supervising the training room and serving on assigned task forces and programs. This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program. This shall include adhering to the principles of the Athletic Department's Mission Statement, Diversity and Inclusion Mission Statement, Core Values, Policies and Procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Big XII Conference and the NCAA. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Sport coverage: * Prevention and care of athletic related injuries for all sports programs. * For the assigned sport(s), will have primary responsibilities for athlete injury prevention and care; athlete records, pre-participation physicals, event and practice coverage, team travel and sport camp coverage. Will support track and cross country programs. * Maintenance of accurate and up to date injury records and daily correspondence with the coaching staff. Administration: * Serve on Student-Athlete Wellness Team. * Serve as staff liaison for manual therapy providers. * Manage and supervise the usage of the athletic training department vehicle. * Student education: Act as an instructor in the education and training program for intern athletic trainers. Participate in program planning, teaching, and evaluation of graduate athletic training students. Departmental Responsibilities: * Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of NCAA, Big XII conference, University and departmental rules and regulations. The violation of NCAA or Conference rules on the part of Athletic Department Personnel may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. * Adhere to principles stated in the Athletic Department's Mission Statement and promote loyalty to the mission by all staff and student-athletes under his/her supervision. Be Statements Be adventurous. Be groundbreaking. Be Boulder. What We Require * Bachelor's degree in health-related field, NATA certification, undergraduate collegiate athletic training experience. One years post graduate experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute. What You Will Need * Knowledge of medical needs, expectations, and requirements of student-athletes to promote, maintain, and enhance their health and well-being. * Knowledge of injury prevention, data collection, and reporting and injury prevention programs. * Knowledge and support of NCAA rules and regulations. * Strong interpersonal skills. * Demonstrated ability to effectively work in teams. * Strong organization and problem-solving skills. * Proven effectiveness in cross-disciplinary collaboration both inside (in other units and functions) and outside the organization. What We Would Like You to Have * Master's degree in health-related field. * Two or more years of full-time athletic training experience at the collegiate or professional level. * Experience working within a collegiate or professional track and field team.
