Find more information and resources here: https://www.commerce.nd.gov/workforce/relocation-resources Position Description & Details Bismarck State College is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Automotive and Diesel Programs Director to lead and manage our Automotive Technology, Automotive Collision Technology, and Diesel Technology Programs. This position is crucial to the success and growth of our educational programs and will play a key role in fostering student achievement and ensuring the quality and relevance of our academic offerings. Responsibilities: * Student Advocacy and Success: * Serve as an effective advocate for students, promoting retention, success, and achievement. * Develop and maintain academic programs with a focus on student outcomes, engagement, retention, and completion. * Program Administration and Management: * Oversee the administration, organization, and supervision of the Automotive Technology, Automotive Collision Technology, and Diesel Technology Programs. * Conduct continuous quality review and improvement of the programs through Academic Discipline Review. * Provide academic oversight and long-range enrollment planning in consultation with the Assistant Dean. * Curriculum and Program Development: * Collaborate with the Assistant Dean to plan, develop, and revise curriculum to ensure it meets industry standards and educational goals. * Work with advisory committees, Business and Industry Leadership Teams (BILTs), and public-private partnerships to drive innovation and keep programs current. * Develop and implement new academic programs and coordinate with Public Affairs and other departments for program marketing. * Faculty Recruitment and Support: * Recruit, orient, and train adjunct faculty, ensuring they are well-prepared to deliver high-quality instruction. * Support faculty and adjuncts through mentoring, professional development, and performance evaluations in cooperation with the Assistant Dean. * Manage faculty recruitment, including position requests, advertising, and search committees. * Instructional Duties: * Teach 14 credits of program coursework per academic year. * Prepare and deliver instructional materials, maintain student records, evaluate student work, and provide academic consultation. * Student Field Experience: * Coordinate, supervise, and document student field internship experiences to ensure practical learning aligns with academic objectives. * Program Review and Accreditation: * Execute program reviews and manage programmatic accreditation applications and renewals in consultation with the Assistant Dean. * Ensure academic assessment aligns with the Academic Discipline Review process. * External Relations and Partnerships: * Represent Bismarck State College at local, regional, and national conferences, recruitment activities, and other events. * Engage with public-private partners, including K-12 institutions and industry groups, to support program goals and student success. * Innovation and Continuous Improvement: * Promote and implement innovative ideas to enhance program effectiveness and address evolving industry needs. * Additional Duties: * Perform other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean or College administration. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. * Continuously - 66-100% - Use hands dexterously, talk or hear. * Frequently - 34-65% - Operate small equipment, stand, walk, or sit. * Occasionally - 1-33% - Reach with hands and arms, stoop/kneel/crouch, crawl, climb or balance, or lift to 50 pounds. Minimum Requirements * Bachelor's degree in Automotive Technology, Automotive Collision Technology, and Diesel Technology, or a similar field of study or an Associate degree in Automotive Technology, Automotive Collision Technology, and Diesel Technology, and 5 years of industry experience. * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with direct and indirect reports (faculty, staff, etc.), as well as administration. * Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. * High-level attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines. * Strong computer software skills (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel, Teams, etc., Outlook E-mail and Calendar). Preferred Qualifications * Experience with curriculum and course development, * Experience in post-secondary teaching * Experience with distance/online education, academic assessment, dual credit/early entry, and prior learning. * Substantial industry experience of more than five years.
