THE POSITION We are looking for a talented and experienced individual to become part of our team at Presque Isle State Park. In the role of lifeguard, you will be essential in safeguarding the health and safety of our park visitors. Your duties will include overseeing the swimming zones, upholding park policies, and addressing any emergencies that arise. This position offers a fantastic chance for someone with outstanding water rescue abilities and a love for outdoor activities to positively impact the community. DESCRIPTION OF WORK Working as a Lake Erie Lifeguard at Presque Isle State Park involves patrolling, observing, and monitoring visitor activity at swimming areas. Work is conducted from boats, from on-shore stations, and from the water. You will need to recognize when swimmers are in distress and to be able to rescue them using accepted lifesaving techniques. Additionally, you will be expected to utilize first aid, artificial respiration, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Inspection of buoys, ropes, first aid equipment and supplies, and other safety equipment will also be one of your duties. Interested in learning more? The season runs from May through September. * Work days will vary, will work 5 days, 40 hours per week * Will be required to work weekends and holidays * You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirements: * All employees must obtain a valid Lifeguard Certification issued by the American Red Cross, YMCA, United States Lifesaving Association, or other authority recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Health within 14 days of employment. * All employees must obtain valid certifications in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR within 14 days of employment. * This position requires possession of a valid motor vehicle license. Other Requirements: * PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. * You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements: * You must pass a background investigation. * This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. * Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
