Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: * Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives. * Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods. * Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements. * Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular). * Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations. * Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments. This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction. Conducts all activities with an appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Completed academic preparation appropriate to the course(s) being taught. * Holds an Indiana EMT or higher certification. * Has two years of directly related work experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Holds an associate degree or higher in Paramedic Science or related field. * Holds an Indiana State Paramedic License * Holds an Indiana Department of Homeland Security Primary Instructor certification. * Holds an AHA Instructor certification in BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS. * Holds an NAEMT Instructor certification in PHTLS and/or AMLS. RETENTION AND STUDENT SUCCESS Provide academic-related coaching and academic monitoring to assigned student advisees in partnership with professional academic advising staff. Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including use of technology for academic advising alerts; provide necessary interventions to include communication with students, tutoring and other academic supports, and referrals to appropriate college resources. Maintain posted office hours and student engagement hours in accordance with campus expectations and the faculty loading policy in the Academic Support and Operations Manual (ASOM 7.2). Promote and assist in student recruitment, retention, and successful completion of programs, including outreach to students by phone, technology tools, and other electronic means. Must demonstrate ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued. STARTING SALARY RANGE: $45.50/contact hour Official Transcripts are required at the time of hire sent directly from the issuing institution to the Office of Human Resources.
