Temporary/Permanent: Temporary 11-month position
Other Conditions: This position is created specifically to support the Kaho'iwai: Reclaiming Hawaiian Knowledge Sovereignty project. To begin approximately January 2025, pending position clearance and/or availability of funds. The position is located at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, and appointment is renewable annually for the duration of the grant, contingent upon availability of funds, program/operational needs, satisfactory performance, and good academic standing.
This is an I I-month position, which means the position is on duty throughout the year except
during periods of authorized leave.
Duties & Responsibilities
I. Review and clean up Hawaiian language newspaper partner indexes.
2. Assist the development of the Hawaiian language newspaper index with the software
developers.
3. Develop outreach and promotional materials for the Hawaiian language newspaper index.
4. Assist in the promotion of the Hawaiian language newspaper index.
Minimum Qualifications
I. Enrolled full-time at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, in a graduate degree program at the time of hire and throughout the appointment period, be in good academic standing, and maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.50 or above.
2. Pursuing a graduate degree in Hawaiian Language, Hawaiian Studies, Library & Information Science, or a related field.
3. Ability to read, write, and speak in Hawaiian language.
4. Knowledge of Hawaiian history and culture.
5. Demonstrated experience in Google and Word software.
6. Strong interest in learning or honing research, analytical, and indexing skills.
7. Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills.
8. Keen attention to detail and ability to synthesize information.
9. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
10. Demonstrated ability to both independently and collaboratively.

I. Prior work experience on a University of Hawai'i campus.
