Position Description Provide peer tutoring in one of these subject areas: math, writing, computers, or science. Support students as a Peer Mentor. Provide customer service, directional assistance, and basic technical support while staffing our front service desk. Requirements: No academic honesty violations and in good academic standing. A faculty reference check is conducted in the tutoring subject area. Previous experience in customer service (Publix, fast food, waiting tables) is a plus but not required. Volunteer experience is also welcome. Ability to break down concepts and verbally explain processes in the tutoring subject area. Patience and ability to work with people of all ages and ability levels with care and sensitivity is required. Specific skills desired: * For writing: * Grade of A in ENC 1101 and successful completion or enrollment in ENC 1102 (or equivalent). * A writing sample with cited research is required for review. * Math tutors: * Enrolled in Pre-Calculus or higher and passed College Algebra with an A (if required). * A math skills assessment is required. * Science tutors: Grade of "A" in BSC 2085 and enrolled in BSC 2086 or an "A" grade in CHM 1025 or CHM 2046. * Other subjects please inquire.
