Growth in the US West Transportation Market is a critical component of GHD's overall strategy in the Americas!
GHD's Highways Roads Bridges (HRB) Business Group (BG) is a major pillar of our overall transportation market offerings, that also include Maritime and Coastal, Rail and Transit, and Mobility and Places. Our HRB practice is delivering work for key transportation agencies and municipalities across Southern California. Projects include highways, interchanges, local roads, roundabouts, trails / active transportation, bridges, and other related improvements. GHD has exposure to these opportunities through the Federal, State, Municipal, and private sectors.
Our Los Angeles Team, has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer/Project Manager- Highways/Roads. This is a unique opportunity for a senior level individual to participate join a large, well-established organization with a culture that promotes teamwork, integrity, and respect. You will work closely with our highly skilled multi-disciplinary teams throughout the organization and our clients to efficiently deliver projects and provide high value consultancy services.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work on diverse projects, collaborate with talented professionals, and make a significant impact within our organization and the communities we serve.
Key responsibilities include:
* Technical Guidance and Project Oversight: Providing expertise and guidance on various engineering projects, with a focus on transportation systems, such as highways, roadways, and more.
* Design Delivery: Overseeing and leading the production of complex engineering designs, drawings, details, and specifications.
* Project Scope and Schedule Management: Assisting project managers in developing and managing project scopes, schedules, budgets, and quality plans. Your expertise will contribute to effective project planning and execution.
* Team Leadership: Leading a cohesive team, including subconsultants, to achieve project objectives, promoting collaboration, and creating a positive work environment.
* Coaching and Mentoring: Playing a crucial role in coaching and mentoring junior staff, helping them develop their skills and knowledge.
* Community and Professional Engagement: Actively engaging in community and professional organizations, representing our company and staying up-to-date with industry trends.
* Client Relationship Management: Actively participating in client relationship management, attending client meetings as needed.
What you will bring to the team:
* Strong foundation and understanding of PS&E package development across multiple software design platforms - strong prior experience with both AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Microstation desired. Microsoft Office Suite of Applications experience required.
* Strong communication skills across multiple modes ranging from in person face to face interactions through electronic modes (video meetings, email, messaging) and written communication focused on business communication expertise and experience including but not limited to business letters, scope of work documents, memos, meeting notes, technical memoranda, specifications and other contract documents, among others.
* Strong experience and working knowledge of infrastructure design and construction project delivery.
* Experience with local agency, state and federally funded transportation projects including projects delivered in partnership with Caltrans through their oversight process.
* Desire to expand and grow relationships/business in transportation and other sectors within the US West Region.
* Capability to provide mentorship to staff within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment and knowledge with staff and peers.
* Ability to support and sometimes lead the development of project/client proposals and participate in interviews as needed.
* Demonstrated professional judgement and commercial acumen, including identifying, assessing, evaluating risk and solving problems, both technical and delivery related.
* Demonstrated ability to direct and delegate work assignments to others, ensuring efficient project execution, efficient delivery and schedule adherence.
* A self-starter with the ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Master's Degree considered a plus.
* Registered Civil Engineer in the State of California preferred
* 8+ years of experience with solid technical knowledge and skills across the transportation & municipal engineering, including a strong background in planning & design; construction experience a plus.

Salary Range: $138,000-$207,000 based on experience
