Position OverviewThe Office of Health Promotion (OHPm) comprises a number of divisions and sections focused on supporting the health of Illinois residents, including those addressing chronic diseases, violence and injury prevention, oral health, newborn screening, vision and hearing screening, substance misuse, and access to medical cannabis. OHPm seeks a motivated, organized professional to serve as its Assistant Deputy Director. This position is responsible for developing and implementing fiscal and other policies, serving as a front line supervisor, serving as chief fiscal and budget manager, and representing the Deputy Director.
Minimum Qualifications- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years college.
- Requires prior experience equivalent to four years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
- Master's degree in public administration, public health or a related field.
- Three (3) years experience developing, implementing and interpreting department policies, rules or regulations, including those related to fiscal functions.
- Three (3) years experience with health promotion programs.
- Three (3) years management or supervisory experience.
- Three (3) years experience proposing, developing or monitoring budgets.
- Three (3) years experience establishing, maintaining and improving cooperative working relationships with various stakeholders on health promotion issues.
- Three (3) years experience with agency programs and service objectives, activities and operational systems.
- Two (2) years experience in the use of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties.
- Require appropriate, valid Driver's license.
- Per Executive Order 2018-07, engages with Business Enterprise Program (BEP) contractors and subcontractors and provides support for goals of BEP and the Fair Contracting Task Force.
