EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:
Santa Rosa Junior College is currently accepting applications to establish a pool for part-time associate faculty assignments. Associate assignments are temporary, part-time or on-call. This job posting is not for a specific assignment or for a full-time faculty position, but rather to establish a pool of candidates who may be considered for part-time faculty assignments.

ABOUT SRJC:
Santa Rosa Junior College has been an integral part of the Sonoma County community and its rich history, beauty and culture for more than 100 years.
SRJC is a public two-year community college, which serves the County of Sonoma and portions of Marin and Mendocino counties. The District has two campuses, located in Santa Rosa and Petaluma, California, two centers, a Public Safety Training Center located in Windsor, California, and the Robert Shone Agricultural Center located in Forestville, California, and our newest site in the Roseland area of the City of Santa Rosa. Students may choose from over 100 associate degree majors and certificate programs, complete courses toward the first two years of a bachelor's degree program, or pursue courses for other professional or personal reasons.

* Provide excellent instruction and faculty support to students, which may include evening, weekend, online or hybrid and/or off-campus assignments.

SELECTION PROCESS:
Candidates who are recommended for the pool after committee interviews will be added to the pool for disciplines interviewed and deemed qualified for (screening/interviewing committees will confirm disciplines that candidates are qualified for).
Applications are accepted for associate faculty pools on a continuous basis. If the department has an immediate need to add candidates to their pool, they will review applications. If the department does not have an immediate need to add candidates to their pool, applications remain in the queue for consideration until the need arises or for up to one year.
If selected for interview, candidates will be invited to interview with a Screening and Interviewing Committee. The Committee may include representatives consisting of Faculty, Administrators, and Classified Professionals. Students may also participate in the committee selection process as determined by the Screening and Interviewing Committee. For candidates who are recommended for the pool, references will be checked at any point beyond the committee interview. If selected for the pool, candidates remain in the pool for four years.
Santa Rosa Junior College does not reimburse candidates for expenses related to associate faculty interviews. Requests for remote interviews or other accommodations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
The Social Sciences Department at Santa Rosa Junior College includes the disciplines of Economics, History, and Political Science. The department has ten contract and numerous associate faculty teaching on two campuses and several off campus locations. The department prides itself on academic excellence and makes every effort to accommodate a diverse student body. Beyond the core university transferable courses, the department's curriculum consists of courses on Environmental Economics, Political Theory, International Relations, Women's History, the History of Mexico, African American History, and Race, Ethnicity, and Gender in American Culture. Our department serves roughly 4,000 students each semester. In addition to maintaining high standards in the classroom, the department also participates in and sponsors a number of community events such as local political debates, film festivals, the Arts and Lectures series, and Model Arab League. All of our classrooms are wired for complete web access. Social Science faculty and students have two libraries available to them. Each library has innumerable print, digital, and media resources. The department's primary focus is to promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills through the study of Economics, History, and Political Science.
Social Sciences Department website Required:
Master's Degree in History; OR Bachelor's Degree in History AND Master's degree in Political Science, Humanities, Geography, Area Studies, Women's Studies, Social Science or any ethnic studies; OR the equivalent; OR possession of a fully satisfied (Life) California Community College Instructor's Credential in History.
Requires a sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

* For Unit A (AFA) Faculty, salary placement may be based on academic background, vocational experience, and teaching experience depending on discipline and as documented in application materials. Initial Step placement will be at Step 1 pending evaluation of experience as outlined in the AFA Contract Article 27.
* Sick Leave Accrual: Associate faculty accrue sick leave on a pro-rated basis.
