The Department of Agribusiness, Applied Economics and Agriscience Education at North Carolina A&T State University is seeking candidates for a 12-month, non-teaching faculty position of Research Associate with a track record of work on social sciences issues relating to agriculture (in general), food, and rural/urban communities. Prospective candidates are expected to provide knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods with applications of local and regional food systems and to provide analytic expertise to expand the Department's research portfolio. The Research Associate will: * Develop models that integrate qualitative and quantitative techniques for analyzing, synthesizing data for advancing the understanding of social phenomena (to include a variety of computational/simulation/experimental techniques). * Develop techniques for testing and validating models in field settings. * Tailor the application of models to advance understanding of the influence of the socioeconomic environment on underserved and minority communities. * Apply software to support a wide range of analytical techniques. * Analyze primary and/or secondary data available for the study. * Assist with identifying relevant literature necessary for review. * Conduct literature reviews for the study. * Prepare appropriate data collection methods for respective studies. * Identifying necessary secondary data available relevant to the study. Primary Function of Organizational Unit N.C. A&T is a public, land-grant, doctoral research institution and has been the largest historically Black university in the country for the past decade. Our four academic departments are the Department of Agribusiness, Applied Economics and Agriscience Education; the Department of Animal Sciences; the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences; and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Design. Within these departments, students will find many opportunities for classroom learning, research, and fieldwork.Through our Agricultural Research Program and Cooperative Extension Program, we can research issues of importance to North Carolina and provide research-based outreach training to citizens across the state and around the world. Minimum Requirements * Master's in relevant Agricultural Economics, Applied Economics, Rural Sociology or Related Social Science * Curriculum vitae should reflect evidence of qualitative and/or quantitative methods; knowledge of institutional review board certification; data collection methods in agricultural and applied economics; skills in developing and delivering instructional material. * Evidence of skills in the application of relevant software. Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education Required License or Certification Is this position eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. Hybrid (Employees are working part-time in the office to perform job tasks that require on-campus engagement, and the remaining time at home)
