Job Summary
Augusta University's College of Education and Human Development is seeking an inaugural Associate Dean of Faculty and Staff Success to play a crucial role in shaping the future of our College. With the University System of Georgia's emphasis on Student Success and Professional Development, it is critical that we have a leader that is focused exclusively on faculty and staff success. The goal for this position will be to support, advocate for, and advance faculty and staff success within our College. This is a tenure track, 12-month administrative faculty with rank position. We are seeking an Associate Professor or Full Professor with a leadership track record who will help us support our growing faculty and staff.
Responsibilities
Administration - 70%
* Assisting Chairs and our Office Coordinator with faculty and staff searches by creating job descriptions, recruiting, hiring, onboarding and mentoring faculty and staff.
* Supporting faculty through the promotion and tenure cycle (pre-tenure reviews, promotion and tenure reviews, and post tenure reviews). This includes generating timelines, providing professional development, and supporting the process.
* Assisting Chairs and Assistant Chairs with part-time faculty hiring, onboarding, and mentoring/coaching.
* Coordinating professional development and exit interviews for full- and part-time faculty and staff.
* Promoting faculty and staff through internal and external awards and recognition.
* Serve as an objective mediator in the arbitration/mediation process between faculty and staff and supervisors.
* Overseeing faculty entrepreneurship and intellectual property.
* Overseeing college and university committee membership and leadership.
* Collaborating with our College Assembly leadership on initiatives (including Bylaw and P&T revisions).
* This leader would also focus on recruiting, hiring, onboarding, providing professional development, and mentoring the Dean's staff.
* Other duties as assigned.
Teaching - 10%
Teach one course each academic year.
Research - 10%
Conducting and supervising scholarly activities.
Service - 10%
Providing service as appropriate to the college, university, the community, and the profession.
Required Qualifications
Candidates should have earned their doctorate from an accredited university in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, or a closely related field.
Associate Professor: A mid-career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. There is evidence that the candidate's body of work has a focused research and/or scholarship agenda that represents a significant step towards national/international recognition. There is evidence of impact either in the knowledge-base or practice. Candidate has evidence of outstanding teaching. Candidate has evidence of substantial service to their program, department, college, university, and/or the profession.
Professor: Senior faculty member has earned tenure with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. The candidate has a national reputation in one line of research and/or scholarship and has developed trajectories to further their research or create new lines of research. There is clear evidence of significant impact on either the knowledge-base or practice and a record of mentorship of students and faculty in research and/or scholarship endeavors, as well as teaching. There is evidence of outstanding teaching and has leadership roles within the college, university, or the profession, as well as substantial performance over a period of several years that demonstrates a significant impact on the professional discipline, self-governance, and/or communities.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
* Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation.
* Evidence of ability as a teacher
* Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned.
* Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
* Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds
