Director of Technology
Job Description
Position: Director of Technology
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: COO
Purpose: The Director of Technology will provide leadership, management, oversight,and vision for technology at Union Academy Charter School. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficiency, effectiveness, and security of the technology and communication infrastructure of the school. The role coordinates with instructional and support staff, specifically the Administrative Team, in identifying needs and direction for technology in both business and instructional functions. The Director of Technology serves as a member of the senior leadership team and reports to the Chief Operations Officer. The Director of Technology works with the technology staff and educational technology staff to implement and manage a smoothly functioning program serving the needs of all departments, divisions, and constituencies within the school.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
* Manage cyber-security and IT disaster recovery for the school.
* Ensure the coordination, security, and efficiency of network infrastructure and door access control.
* Develop and enforce policies and procedures to ensure the integrity, security, and privacy of information
* Spearheaded technology initiatives that support teaching and learning.
* Evaluate and establish technology best practices, policies, and procedures.
* Provides leadership for short- and long-range planning for all technology initiatives: vision, goals, program objectives/strategies/activities, infrastructure, staffing, training, evaluation, budgeting, and collaboration with others.
* Facilitate regular communication with the School community regarding technology issues, plans, projects, policies, and procedures (including training);
* Coordinate and manage the educational technology staff in implementing school-wide instructional technology plans and training.
* Coordinate and manage all technical staff, mentor, develop and retain effective and expert staff as needed.
* Support campus-wide 1:1 program spanning all grades and manage the high volume of help desk requests with creative technological solutions, with consideration to using students as a support resource.
* Supervises the system-wide inventory of technology assets.
* Plans and coordinates the implementation of new technology school-wide.
* Manage school-wide site licensing of software.
* Serves as a source of information on trends, research, applications, and effective practices related to technology use in the school program.
* Establish good working relationships with other departments and vendors.
* Manage e-Rate and negotiate all contracts related to IT operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
* Supervise all technology staff.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in information technology, business, or another related field.
* 5 + years in senior or director leadership across a complex organization or combination of equivalent experience, education, and training.
* Previous experience in a school or non-profit environment
* Experience in overseeing operations of data centers, wireless and local area networks, the internet, voice and data communications, application management, and administration, preferably in a K-12 school.environment.
* Experience with Google Education Suite, Microsoft Office 365, and Mobile Deployment Management solutions for school devices.
* Strong project management and organization skills.
* Strong leader and manager; actively promotes professional development and mentors the technology team to foster individual growth and align skillsets with the school's needs.
* Ability to connect technology with curriculum and business processes.
* Ability to relate to all levels of the user community.
* Ability to effectively articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
* Ability to manage people.
* Ability to think strategically and create a vision, while executing effectively.
* Ability to identify and lead training and professional development as needed.
* Ability to negotiate contracts and experience in managing a large budget.
* Be able to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Willingness to research, learn, and share new technology with students and staff.
* A fundamental understanding of management-level IT principles and best practices.
Working Conditions and Environment:
* Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds

* Frequently talk and hear

* Exposure to dust, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
