Eaton's Aerospace Division is currently seeking a Senior Buyer/Planner to join our team. This position is based at our Jackson, MI facility. The expected annual salary range for this role is $80250.03 - $117700.04 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. What you'll do: Position Overview: Exhibits expertise in planning and buying practices for production and leads others to ensure customer orders are completed on time at the lowest possible cost. Manages and identifies areas for improvement in the following areas: planning/shop floor scheduling, purchasing, tools, ERP SMART rules, shortage resolution, expedites, customer requests, manufacturing efficiency, and capacity management. In addition, drive purchasing practices to assigned commodity and apply strong knowledge to ensure products meet quality, delivery and specification requirements at the lowest possible costs. Essential Responsibilities: Planner * Analyzes material requirements; plans and initiates schedules to support customer production & new program development schedules and plans; manages shop floor scheduling; levels loads orders based on capacity in the cell * Manages work orders to ensure manufacturing has necessary work at all times, communicates on overtime requirements * Expedites orders for customers where possible; expedites shortages with buyers; communicates updates to customer service * Ensures work orders for their areas of responsibility are current, not past due, not in pick status for long periods of time * Support potential miss meetings to ensure on time completion of critical orders, be proactive * For area of responsibility: manages item parameters and settings in MRP system, minimizes past due sales dollars, quality issues, resolves supplier shortages, customer on-time delivery * Supports plant continuous improvement teams and align to "Key" High Performance Work Teams, and act as team lead for critical issues within entire Value Stream * Will effectively train and mentor new employees, and convey the importance of goal attainment and competencies * Provides SCM expertise in a lead role within the High Performance Work Team. * Execute other duties as assigned. Buyer * Initiates and Leads cost out projects, generates IDEAS from suppliers on cost out savings * Coordinates supplier communication between internal departments * Applies skillful negotiations with internal and external suppliers; problem solves and settles disputes; develop win-win resolutions, and creates positive relations with tact, diplomacy, and good judgment * Defines and applies complex data analysis and analytical tools for process improvements * Drives process channel knowledge for acquiring materials and/or services in order to ensure delivery requirements for commodities and/or service customers * Possesses sound knowledge and applications skills of the value chain process; and possesses strong ability to analyze and interpret cost drivers when developing cost out strategies * Creates innovative approaches for utilizing and applying project management tools and techniques for procurement applications * Prepares reports and other correspondence for use by Eaton SCM professionals * Coordinate material requirements with production schedules, customer requirements and provide feedback to scheduling and management * Execute other duties as assigned Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of 1-2 years experience in Supply Chain OR High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution with a minimum of five (5) years experience in Manufacturing with 1-2 years experience in Supply Chain. * This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. * No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of 50 miles of Jackson, MI will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. * Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future Preferred Qualifications: * Sound understanding of customer requirements, quality requirements, lead times * Expertise in work order management, production, capacity and demand planning, and scheduling * BOM material management, item master setup, MRP principles, and ERP experience * Possesses excellent problem-solving skills in complex and demanding situations that undergo continuous priority changes * Sound knowledge of Eaton commodity products and supplier resources Additional Information: * Must have ability to analyze data, review to determine key action items, and present comfortably in front of plant management * Autonomously execute B side (strategic and long- term) projects * Effectively communicate with customers without managerial support * This position exhibits expert communications for internal and external customer interactions. * Limited travel is required (<10%)
