Tesla is looking to hire a Manufacturing Engineer to contribute to the development and launch of key technical processes for our cutting-edge battery products. In this role you will bridge the gap between highly specialized process development teams and high-volume automation equipment concept teams to drive and deploy technological advancement in your respective discipline at scale. Battery development is at the heart of our company, and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly on the central challenges with electric vehicles - battery architecture innovation and the innovation of the respective manufacturing technologies that come with it. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects.
* Collaborate on electrical interconnection processes & equipment such as laser welding
* Develop specifications and manage RFQ process for new manufacturing equipment
* Lead and manage project scope from concept through production launch
* Validate and optimize processes from early prototype builds through full volume production
* Transition products from low-volume prototypes to large-scale production
* Function as lead manufacturing engineer or project manager on new automated manufacturing equipment
* Capability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
* 3+ years of engineering or equivalent relevant experience
* Experience developing and implementing electrical interconnect processes and equipment in high-volume production (laser welding, ultrasonic wire bonding, ultrasonic welding, soldering)
* Experience deploying, qualifying and validating new processes in a highly automated production environment
* Proficiency in geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) and experimental design
* Experience in the development and launch of large, highly automated manufacturing lines
* Familiarity with industrial engineering concepts such as line balancing and OEE
* Degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials, or equivalent experience
