Position Summary The faculty member shall be responsible for the following: teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with articulation and curriculum development and review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty member. A typical instructional assignment for a semester consists of multiple courses with a total of four or five class sections. The department maintains a focus on: * Continuous consideration of improvements to maintain a strong and diverse program. * Active involvement in program evaluation, student learning outcomes, and curriculum development. * Community outreach to high schools. * The development of internship and work experience opportunities. * The utilization of current accounting, business, and computer practices. * The incorporation of current accounting and business technology, and specialized software. * Collegial collaboration among faculty. * Introducing students and the community to careers in accounting. Position Salary Information: Initial maximum salary placement is based on academic degree, upper/graduate level units earned, and/or related professional occupational experience per the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers Contract(the initial maximum placement is Class V, Step 8). Typical Duties The instructional assignment may include, but is not limited to, teaching courses in all levels of Accounting at the college including: * Fundamentals of College Accounting * Financial Accounting * Managerial Accounting * Intermediate Accounting * Computerized Accounting (QuickBooks) * Federal and State Taxation including in-person voluntary tax preparation class * Governmental Accounting * Cost Accounting * Auditing * Payroll Accounting To view a complete list of courses for this discipline, please visit the Programs and Majors webpage for the specific campus: * ARC Programs and Majors * CRC Programs and Majors * FLC Programs and Majors * SCC Programs and Majors Minimum Qualifications * Master's in accountancy or business administration with accounting concentrationORBachelor's in business with accounting emphasis or business administration with accounting emphasis or economics with an accounting emphasis ANDMaster's in business, business administration, business education, economics, taxation, finance ORa bachelor's degree in accountancy or business administration with accounting concentration, witha CPA license;ORthe equivalent*.
