Answers patrons¿ questions regarding the proper use of all equipment. Posts written instruction and procedures for the use of equipment when necessary. Ensures that all equipment is in safe, clean and in operative condition. Conducts inspections of the equipment. Responsible for the maintenance and repair of fitness center equipment. * Ensures facilities are safe, well maintained and prepared for activities or events. Ensures proper internal controls are maintained to protect property, equipment, supplies, income, records, etc. * Briefs superiors, inspection officials, and other staff. * Performs inspections and provides overall management of facility operations. * Ensures procedural guidelines are in effect. * Establishes and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOP¿s) and Desk Top Procedures ensuring consistent operations. * Inspects facility daily ensuring safe and efficient operations. Conducts property inventories. * Maintains schedule, assists in the coordination of health promotion, physical fitness and special sports events and ensures announcements reflect current events * Maintains RecTrac records and other appropriate accounting records. * Prepares financial plan, budgets, inventories, and related records and reports. Reviews the financial status of the assigned activity and recommends changes to the Department Head. * Supervises employees to include: assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees; approving and disapproving leave, recommending and completing personnel actions, completing performance reviews, approving time and attendance, training employees, keeping abreast of and actively supporting the principles of the EEO program, and prevention of sexual harassment. * Develops and ensures implementation of an activity safety program in accordance with the Base Safety Program. Conducts safety meetings at least quarterly. * Advises employees of available safety regulations, instructions, materials and equipment. * Complies with OSHA standards and takes action to correct unsafe or unhealthy working conditions. Help Requirements Conditions of Employment * See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications A minimum of three years experience in developing, managing, and maintaining a fitness center program/facility. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required. Must be familiar with personnel management procedures and policies. Ability to deal effectively with subordinates, management officials, and patrons. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45 lbs. independently and objects over 45 lbs. with assistance.
