Animal Care Technician Job Description
Overview
An Animal Care Technician is responsible for providing professional care and handling of animals in a veterinary facility. This role requires the technician to be knowledgeable about animal anatomy, physiology, nutrition, behavior, and grooming techniques. They must also have a strong understanding of medical terminology and veterinary procedures. The technician will work closely with veterinarians to provide support during examinations or treatments as well as provide daily care for those animals in their charge such as feeding, cleaning cages/kennels, administering medication/injections, exercising pets (especially larger breeds), assisting with surgeries when necessary and more.
