Environmental Inspector Job Description
Overview
An Environmental Inspector reviews and investigate sources of pollution to protect the public and environment. Their role is to certify conformance with federal, state and local regulations and ordinances, and review licenses, permits, records and applications to determine if they are compliant with licensing regulations. Their responsibilities are to organize and maintain inspection records, perform laboratory tests on samples collected, observe and record field conditions, gather, interpret and report data such as flow meter readings and chemical levels, and review compliance monitoring reports.
