Overview
A Recreational Therapy Intern is responsible for helping people with disabilities and/or illnesses to engage in meaningful leisure activities. They work with a variety of patients, including those with physical, mental, behavioral or social needs. The intern works under the supervision of a certified recreational therapist or other health care professional to develop and implement an individualized treatment plan that meets each patient’s goals. Typical duties include assessing the patient's abilities; planning therapeutic activities; leading group therapy sessions; teaching patients how to use adaptive equipment; providing instruction on safety precautions; monitoring progress towards goals...
