The primary role of a commercial pilot is to transport passengers, cargo and mail safely in aircraft. They must ensure that all safety procedures are followed as well as following federal regulations. A commercial pilot will also be responsible for pre-flighting the plane, filing flight plans, communicating with air traffic control personnel, monitoring weather conditions and maintaining accurate records. Additionally they may be required to provide customer service such as helping passengers board the plane or answering any questions they have about their flights.
